Together Festival Boston | Bedroom DJ/Producer Competition

Together Trailer December 31st, 2009 from TOGETHER BOSTON on Vimeo.

Together: The New England Electronic Music Festival is that rarest of opportunities. For many people, dance music and its continuing surge in popular culture provides a chance to collaborate and communicate as never before: thoughts are remixed, songs are made in cooperation and entire events are promoted collectively.

Together will be an extension of this idea, a multi-venue, multi-party, multi-panel super event uniting not simply genres of music, but entire scenes once thought to be disparate. The city of Boston provides a unique platform as well, with its enormous student population, numerous technology centers and differing types of venues.

Together Boston will reach thousands of personalities within the mixing generation. As The New England Electronic Music Festival we will touch on not just dance music, but the emerging technologies of electronic music production. By involving different groups—from the most senior avant-garde lovers to the youngest members of this new sound, this is the genesis of a new era of collaboration and innovation for the New England arts, technology and music communities.
In addition to the number of amazing events, workshops, record fairs and speakers going on during this week in February, I will personally be involved in a couple shows, including WE THE PEOPLE @ Estate Nightclub on February 10th featuring DJ KLEVER, CONGOROCK and much more! I have also been asked to participate in judging the TOGETHER DJ/PRODUCER COMPETITION. The deadline for submissions of original tracks is January 14th and deadline for DJ mixes is January 22nd. The Crystal Method w/ DJ Melee @ House of Blues - May 6th 09

On Wednesday May 6th 2009 I will be opening for the Crystal Method for the 3rd/4th time. This is a very special evening for a few reasons. First, this is the new HOUSE OF BLUES in Boston which I have NEVER played. Yes, as a former resident of Avalon I played that Lansdowne St location numerous times, but this is a whole new building, a whole new room and most importantly a whole new sound system! Second reason, is that this time around the boys from The Crystal Method will be doing a LIVE show!

Shepard Fairey x's TIME Magazine x's Obama!!!

Amazing news! Shepard Fairey's posters of Barack Obama became the icon of the Presidential campaign, so TIME asked the artist to design the cover for its Person of the Year issue. You can watch a really great interview with Shepard Fairey about this cover SHEPARD FAIREY INTERVIEW HERE

I have been a follower of the Obey Propaganda for some time now. Come February when SF does his show at Boston's ICA, I could be the happiest man in Boston.

[Event Review] Crystal Method and Myself at Underbar

Thursday - November 20th 2008 @ Underbar Boston

So many nights without sleep, endless car drives and even working so hard that I eventually came down with pneumonia in the middle of Denver while still doing back to back gigs and then immediately retiring to the ER, you will never hear me complain about what I do. I have had some of the most amazing opportunities and have performed with some of the most amazing artists on the planet. Artists that I respect, follow and appreciate their work and get to meet on a professional level as a "co-worker" if you will.

Last Thursday night was no different. I took the stage and warmed up a small yet completely sold out intimate setting of 400 people at Underbar Boston for The Crystal Method. A couple years back I was asked to open for them and a week before the gig I was notified that they had an opening act on tour with them (which was Evil Nine and I was just as excited to have them playing in Boston than I was for me getting opening duties).

So on this night, it was time to welcome the boys to Boston properly. The room was filled and ready to rock by 11pm. After keeping my cool for the first hour, I knew by 11pm I could step up the energy to the next level. Of course that is what I did, keeping in mind that a RESPECTFUL OPENING DJ maintains a proper tempo before leaving a guest the stage.

So 12am came around and Scott and Ken of CM took over the controls. Immediately they came in banging with the hard hitting sounds of The Crystal Method. The place just went off. They did an amazing job the whole 2 hours and kept the room moving. I do hope the next time, we can have them in doing a Live PA.

Closing statement........

I will be working in the studio for the winter, let's see what's next? Have a good holiday and I will keep writing.

Mix Set: Rennie Pilgrem Celebrates 15 years of TCR!

Without Rennie Pilgrem's TCR there would be no Nu Skool Breaks, no Friction with Adam Freeland & Tayo, no HUM with Meat Katie, no Breaksday at The Glade Festival, no Stir. With over 400 titles from some of the best electronic producers we thought we'd celebrate with a series of free TCR mixes from Rennie, various classics remixed and parties around the globe.

To celebrate the fact that we are 15 years old some of our most important tracks are being remixed and re-released alongside the originals. 'Morpheus' by Koma & Bones. 'Black Widow' by Rennie Pilgrem & Uberzone. 'Purple Monkey' by JDS and more will be unleashed over the rest of the year. This is great timing as breaks are currently gracing some of the biggest club releases of the moment, with crowds loving the fusion of 4/4 and breaks…bring it on!

We will also be throwing a series of parties around the globe which will include TCR Artists. Following on from massive sales (in excess of 20,000) of his album 'Skin' via the unique texting service Rennie Pilgrem has done a free TCR Monster Mix which will be given to party-goers as a special memento of the label.
